Reviews

Deeply personal and intense heartfelt poetry: "Pain Living in My Pen: The Untold Truth of A Street Poet" authored by spoken word poet Maurice Bishop. This volume contains original artwork illustrated by Harris Figures. Many thanks and much appreciation to Strawberry Publications, LLC for this e-ARC value for the purpose of review.

There are many dark themes contained, many involve serious subject matter: domestic violence, child molestation, infidelity/adultery, abortion, suicide and PTSD. With the tragic drive-by shooting death of a female friend and loss of his infant son due to a birth defect, Bishop pushes past the darkness of depression and rises above it as man of faith. Deeply spiritual, Bishop's love for God is evident
Although Bishop struggles with the diagnosis of PTSD, he dearly loves his wife, and always seems mindful of his marital commitment to be a good husband and step-father to his 7 year old son.
Bishop originally from Baltimore, MD. is currently serving on active duty in the US Army. This is his second book.

I was moved by the feelings. The wording grabbed my attention. Another good reason why I love poetry.
