Preying On The Church
Preying on the Church follows the story of Margaret, a 40-year old African American woman, who is trying to balance from the five stages of death (Denial, Anger, Bargaining, Depression, and Acceptance). Deprived by her religion of praying and attending church three days a week, Margie has no clue that church isn’t a safe place. Until one-night Margie experiences a tragic shooting accident in her church, leaving several dead with one of the victims as her son. Margie’s, entire outlook of life becomes difficult. She’s loses faith and turns to drinking, which puts a wedge on her friendships and marriage. Margie thinks the world is crashing down on her but it’s her drinking that’s driving everyone away. There is a slight problem. They are informed that the young man who did the shooting of the church was part of a hatred group. Because of Margie’s anger, she makes mindless decisions that could get herself harmed and create problems where she would have to attend AA meetings. One night from a dream, which is a visit from her son, she learns that everything happens for a reason and he is in a better place than ever. After attending these meetings and coming to reality, Margie can forgive herself, the shooter, and look to her faith for answers.
