Racheal Awakened
You can't run, you can't hide so what do you do ?
We have all heard the stories of Lilith hidden in the pages of history. Cursed by god, a demon who fled Eden to steal children and seduced men for their seed. Cursed by both God and man. What if that weren't the case, but instead she made a deal with God to get away from a man who couldn't accept her strengths. A man who refused to accept her. A bargain struck she alone must keep the fallen from taking over and destroying humankind. She must fight the dark things created and let loose on an unsuspecting world. "Racheal" is one of her children, and her story is full of heartbreak and struggle. Pulled from a loving home she must come to terms with who and what she is. A witch, and elemental with the gift of fire who is pursued through time by a dark and deadly villain, a monster determined to have her and destroy her world. It isn't easy finding out you're the daughter of a being cursed by mankind. Or living with the knowledge that her fight is now yours as well.
By any stretch of the imagination, Racheal Awakened by author Robin A Dilks makes for an intriguing debut novel that hollers originality. The story of Lilith may have been told countless times before but flying in the face of an overwhelming deluge of tales dedicated to her, Dilks has taken a well-worn story arc and added her own exciting twist to it. It’s an enchanting and often evocative tale she spins as she confidently blends myth and a little doctrine with the unabashed aim of entertaining her readers. An undertaking that might have proved somewhat mawkish in the hands of a less able writer, but not Dilks as she delivers her reimagining with considerable aplomb. Cleverly contrived, it makes for a highly entertaining read that is unpredictable without being overly complicated, whilst the avoidance of flat and prescriptive dialogue helps create an ever looming sense of presence and really brings Racheal's character to the life.
A genuinely entertaining debut that is sure to be well received by fans of this ever popular genre, Racheal Awakened certainly deserves a place on your reading shelf and is definitely recommended.
