Katelyn grits her teeth as she struggles to her feet. Those last few moments were the most painful of her life. She eyes the man in front of her uneasily, wondering what he’s waiting for. When he finally stalks toward her, she backs away when she sees the look in his eyes, so full of anger and obsession. She doesn’t know how much longer she can stand living this way. “It’s foolish to try to escape,” the vampire snarls. “It’s better than doing nothing. You don’t deserve for me to make this easy for you,” she replies, filling her voice with her hatred for him. “Oh, but it is easy,” he says with a satisfied smirk. He holds her chin with one hand, moving her head up and to the side to expose her neck. His other hand comes up, his fingers sliding over her artery. He can feel her pulse, so unyieldingly tempting. Katelyn grunts fearfully. “So easy.”
