Great Review on Scylla just seen it I just returned from holiday in Cyprus, having picked up this great book from Amazon. I read the original novel by Myron Edwards (The Mistress of the Rock) about five years ago and thoroughly enjoyed it. I didn't realise there was a sequel until very recently. It's even better than the first! It's always difficult to review a book without giving away the storyline and spoiling it for all the lucky future readers, but suffice to say this follow-up will appeal to lovers of drama, mystery, mythology and good old fashioned romance. Richard Cole is the central character, and we share his obsession with the mysterious Goddess, Scylla. In the first book he had the chance to totally commit to his real love, but blew his chance. Now, we learn of new developments and Richard is sucked deeper and deeper into a wonderful and fulfilling new life. Scylla the Revenge is extremely well written and addictive stuff - I couldn't put the book down for my entire weeks holiday. It really captures the flavour of the wonderful holiday island that Cyprus is. I don't know if it's even occurred to the publishers, but these books could surely be made into a very entertaining screenplay, and if developed into a film would surely be a great box-office hit.
Scylla: The Revenge
Myron Edwards, author
She’s back and this time she brought a friend… The story continues: the sequel to The Mistress of the Rock, is The Revenge. Still smarting from Richard Cole’s rejection, Aphrodite plans a series of events that will bring about his return to the island. Only this time, his welcome will not be so warm, as he will have to battle bureaucracy and the islanders’ contempt for the devastating aftermath of his chance discovery and his sudden departure. In addition, he confronts his internal demons, and with his return to Cyprus, might completely consume him. For Aphrodite is set upon a path of cold vengeance and summons the Scylla, a legendary cryptid of the deep, to do her bidding. The creature wreaks havoc on the once idyllic coast of Cape Greco and the tourist resorts of Ayia Napa, Protaras, and Paphos. Richard must not only face his devils but also the goddess, if he is to stop the terror that now lurks in the Mediterranean’s crystal-clear waters. But how is he going to do it?
