SLEEPING MOOSE SAGA Part One: "Where the Moose Slept"- A flower child from Hawaii and a soldier from Vietnam meet in Alaska in the 1970's, and homestead on a remote mountain. Although initially they have the full support of a pair of "salt of the earth" cowboys, after the old timers depart, the newlyweds must face the difficulties of weather, transportation, and a cluster of anarchistic neighbors, on their own. Part Two: "The Winter of '79"- Journal entries and letters from the isolated, cabin-fever afflicted woman. Part Three: "Elephant in the Bush"- Idealism meets Reality, as the two settlers "see the elephant" spoken of by many overland pioneers in the 1860's, and realize that their dream, however noble, is impossibly difficult.
