Reader's Favorite Jack Magnus - 5 Stars: I've read S. A. Mahan's book, The Baby Sea Turtle, three times already and I'll probably read it a few times more. It's that good. S. A. Mahan's story is inspired and Deborah Mahan's illustrations are marvelous. This is a wonderful first reader for a child or a highly enjoyable book for an adult to share at bedtime
Patsy Whittle rated it 5 of 5 stars The Baby Sea Turtle is a wonderful little book to read to your children. Or, they can read it by themselves. The book sends an important message to our children. "It is always good to be kind and give a helping hand to those in need." Although, the child may not grasp that message until he or she is a little older, the message gets through and becomes part of their everyday learning process. They will remember how important it is to show kindness and caring to anyone they meet through their journey in life. I loved this book and will share it with my grandchildren when they come to visit. The illustrations are beautiful. The story is well written through beautiful poetry. And, children love poetry. They will surely love this wonderful story about a baby turtle that lost his way. And, how he finds kindness in a world so different from his own. This is a lovely book to add to any child's collection of books. Thank you.
Richard Bennett rated it 5 of 5 stars A book on Kindness, something that all people need to practice every now and then. This children's book is about the journey of a baby sea turtle who is trying to find his way back home in the ocean, and of course he needs a little help from strangers. It's said that you can't do everything for everybody, or even everything for one person, but when you help someone out of a tough fix, it means everything to him. The message is good, the art is good, the price is right, and it's something children need to hear. Two Thumbs up S.A. Mahan

I love it such a sweet cute little book.
The Baby Sea Turtle is a small story about how a turtle loses his way but still manages to learn. The story tells us that it is not as much important to find the right path as it is to keep walking on the path we find. It is a given that we will find our path soon but that should not stop us from exploring and learning as much as possible from the path we are on currently. Everything that comes our way is there to teach us something in life, to give us some invaluable experience and developing us in ways unimaginable.
The Baby Sea Turtle hatches late from the egg. In the meanwhile all his siblings has already gone towards the sea. Because there was no one to guide our Baby Sea Turtle, he takes the wrong path and ends up going in the opposite direction as the sea. However, that does not stop the Small Turtle to explore and be curious about everything that comes his way. He learns about flowers and bees and city and traffic before finally finding his way back with the help of a kind stranger.
The story is really small but with good moral. The book is perfect for small kids because of the very simple language and beautiful and colourful illustrations. A perfect night-time read for the kids and imaginative exercise for the parents, this book is a true catch.
The Baby Sea Turtle by S. A. Mahan is one of only three finalists for the Colorado Book Award in the Children's Fiction category. The winner will be annouced at the Awards Ceremony in Aspen, Colorado on June 21, 2015.
