Adult; Mystery/Thriller; (Market)

When over 4000 people world-wide die after taking a cure for cancer, the drug is recalled. But the questions keep coming. Was it contamination? Was it sabotage? Or, was it outright murder by an insane research scientist in retaliation against the pharmaceutical giant he worked for and to avenge the death of his wife? And everyone wants Doctor Donald Brockman! The lawyers want answers; the FDA want answers and, Homeland Security wants the doctor. When the 911 code flashed across her beeper, Doctor Kira Brockman went cold. The one thing she has been dreading happens and her life as she knows it is changed. The wrong people had found her father. She knows she has very little time to get out of the hospital, to find her brother and to run before Homeland Security and the FBI findsthem, and they were not the only ones: the lawyers who arein the midst of a huge class action suit against the international pharmaceutical manufacturing giant who had sold the cancer cure want her and the evidence she has as well as the lethal security team from the drug company who is trying to stop Kira Brockman from disclosing the evidence only she can get—evidence that will save her father—and they will use any means necessary to stop her. And so begins a heart stopping cross country race to save her father's life and prove he was not responsible for the deaths of 4000 people—The Cured—who survived cancer because of his medication and then inexplicitly died from the very cure he created.

I'll be the first to admit that I'm not normally the type to pick up a medical suspense novel, but am so glad I picked this one up. From page one I was hooked. This is the type of novel that causes sweat to bead at your brow as you read through each anxiety-filled scene. Wind and Ramin have done such an excellent job and developing characters and a storyline that is believable, which makes it even more suspenseful. If you love medical suspense novels, you're going to love this one.

Annette Mahon,

“From the first page, Wind and Ramin take you on a non-stop, life and death race. An intricate but believable plot leads to breath stealing suspense as the reader worries over the likable protagonists, thrown together by fate.” — Annette Mahon, author of the St. Rose Quilting Bee Mystery Series

David Wind and Terese Ramin have written a book around a premise that could be in the headlines tomorrow or any day. The characters come to life from the first page and take you by the throat. You can't stop reading; this is an 'up til 2 am' book if ever there was one. If you want something that will pull you right out of your own life and put you breathlessly in the middle of a great story, this is the book for you!

I was contacted by David Wind who asked me if I would like a copy of "The Cured" to read in exchange for an honest review.

This fast paced and enthralling thriller is a collaboration between David Wind and Therese Ramin, both of whom are very well-established writers and it shows. This is an excellent read and a real page-turner with lots of cliff-hangers at the end of chapters making me want to read on and find out what was going to happen next.

The story revolves around Dr Brockman who, a number of years before, developed a ground-breaking drug to cure stomach cancer which to all intents and purposes was highly successful. Only, a few years down the line those treated suffer fatal side effects from the drug in the form of a deadly virus. Is it the drug itself or has it been contaminated? There is a huge legal case and Dr Brockman is due to testify. But there are those out there who don't want that to happen and he is abducted just before the trial is about to start. There is just one person who has the details of how to find his hidden files - his daughter Kira, herself a medical professional, but can she get the data to the lawyers before the bad guys get to her? With her autistic brother Michael in tow, and with the bad guys heavily in pursuit, Kira has to take flight. With the help of a stranger who, by a strange twist of fate, has a connection with all of this, Kira and Michael manage to narrowly avoid their pursuers at every turn until the final climax. Will they avoid capture and death?

You'll have to read this seriously gripping thriller to find out

The Cured is a rip-roaring, can't-put-it-down thriller with more twists than you can shake a stick at. Dinner was on the table late two nights in a row because of it!

Maggie James

An entertaining thriller that's an action-packed ride right from the start.

I don't usually read this genre, but a friend recommended this book, thinking it would expand my reading tastes. Boy was he right! I found it hard to put the book down. The plot just pulled me in. I don't know what frightened me more, the sinister characters or the things that computer geeks can do with just a few keystrokes, and a lot of know-how. I found this a great read.

The Cured is great novel that's full of suspense and action. It's very well written and formatted, but, more importantly, It's a real thriller. From the very first page, it'll suck you in as Dr. Brockman tries to escape the claws of an 'evil organization' that strives to keep its skeletons locked away in the closet and will stop at nothing to do so. His family; son Michael and daughter Kira, as well as his dear ones, are now in danger, and anyone who knows about the 'flaw' will suffer because of it. And this is just the tip of the iceberg. Enjoy this 5-star book.
