Ted Granville, a proof editor at a small newspaper, writes a book that refutes the existence of the Devil and in doing so he creates more trouble than he can imagine. Not only is the Devil insulted by the book, membership in the Witches and Warlocks and other dark societies falls off as the book gains popularity and the Devil’s following begins to shrink. Infuriated, the Devil commands one of his underlings, Chester Ambrose, a lower-level devil in charge of the district where the book was written, to rectify the situation …or else. Ambrose calls upon a she-devil to help and she concocts a plan to turn things around, but they both find that Ted Granville’s stubborn thinking does not lend itself to their plan…and the ultimatum that the Devil has given to Chester Ambrose.
