The Girl Who Knew Da Vinci: An Out of Time Thriller (Out of Time Thriller Series Book 1)
Belle Ami, author

Adult; Mystery/Thriller; (Create)

In the spirit of The Da Vinci Code by Dan Brown comes a suspense thriller that unravels an unforgettable mystery . . .The Girl Who Knew Da Vinci by Belle Ami. Will her visions lead her to the truth? Art historian Angela Renatus is haunted by dreams of Leonardo da Vinci and a mysterious painting of Giuliano Medici and his mistress Fioretta Gorini. A painting that, as far as the world knows, doesn't exist. Compelled by her visions, Angela is determined to find out the truth. When Angela is contacted by art detective Alex Caine, she's shocked to learn that he too is seeking the same painting. Alex's client, a wealthy German financier, is determined to clear the name of his late uncle, Gerard Jaeger, an art historian, who went missing in Florence, during World War II. In letters written before his disappearance, the historian describes his love affair with a beautiful young Italian woman named Sophia Caro, and the discovery of an extraordinary painting by the great master himself-a painting depicting Giuliano and Fioretta. Angela and Alex journey to Florence in search of the priceless treasure. Is it a lost da Vinci, potentially worth hundreds of millions of dollars, or a wild goose-chase that will only lead to a dead end? But someone else is searching for the elusive painting-Alberto Scordato is a powerful man in the art world and a sociopath who will stop at nothing to get what he wants, even murder. Scordato knows something about Angela that even she doesn't know, something that could threaten both Angela and Alex's lives, forcing them into the crosshairs of fate.

When there's a love that spans the ages, it's easy to get swept up into the majestic backdrops of some of the most amazing periods in history.

"Art historian Angela Renatus is haunted by dreams of Leonardo da Vinci and a mysterious painting of Giuliano Medici and his mistress Fioretta Gorini. A painting that, as far as the world knows, doesn't exist. Compelled by her visions, Angela is determined to find out the truth."

And that was enough to capture my interest in Belle Ami's THE GIRL WHO KNEW DA VINCI as I was swept into the saga that spanned centuries.

Likes: Wow, where to begin. As someone who grew up in Southern California and had visited the Getty Museum numerous times, I was tickled that part of the story took place there. I loved, loved, loved the security footage of both Angela and Alex at the Getty (spoiler alert, so not saying more). And, of course, the actual flashbacks were rich with historical detail making me feel as though I was actually there. Then there's the suspense elements, where Angela and Alex work to solve the mystery of the missing da Vinci, which are really well done. I might be redundant in pointing out that Ms. Ami does an AMAZING job with the richness of details in her storytelling. There is the ever pressing worry that this couple is "on a collision course and history intends to repeat itself." But then, Alex comments that "Maybe this is all a cosmic trap and you and I are just pawns." But you'll have to read the story to find out which answer is true but worry not, it's fabulous.
