So I met this author on Instagram and I agreed to read her book in exchange for an honest review. Now, this isn't my usual genre to read, but I am trying new things so why not.

I am so happy I stepped outside of my comfort zone. This book was so good. The main character Lily was such a well developed character. At the beginning of the book she was suicidal, and had in fact, attempted to end her life several times. Her husband and kids had recently died in a car accident and she was distraught. Even before that she felt deep in her soul that something was missing. As a result, she never gave her husband her entire heart.

This is when things get interesting. Imagine being an orphaned infant taken by the government only to be turned into a lab rat to be turned into the ultimate weapon of war. The government paired the babies off in twos, creating duals. Duals were two children who were paired together and relied on each other for balance. They did everything together, almost like Siamese twins, except they were not actually attached and unrelated.

Come to find out Lily was indeed missing her other half. Her dual has been stripped away from her when they turned 17. Their memories were erased and they were implanted with fake ones. Now, it was time for them to re-connect, regain their memories, and complete their mission.

The story goes on to tell the plight of Lily and her dual, Jonas. He is the ice to her fire. They have a very close relationship, so much so that they shower together and sleep in the same bed.(No hanky panky. They are like siblings and Jonas is gay) and their "abilities" allow them to read each other's minds, as well as others.

Lily, after several painful treatments, finally starts to get her memory back, that was erased when she left the compound. This woman had some power! She was able to manipulate wind, allowing her to fly, she could conjure a fireball to use as a weapon, she also had the ability to see a person's body heat and use her mind to construct heir heart until it exploded. She is the perfect weapon.

Okay, I don't want to give up the entire story, but I got so wrapped up in this book. Lily also remembered a man named Peter who she was totally in love with. He grew up with her as well, and they were lovers. Her dreams were haunted by him, but she was told he is dead.

More deception, lies and manipulation take place as Lily and Jonas navigate through their lives, vowing never to be separated again. When their coupling is in danger of being broken apart, they have to take action. The boom ends on sort of a cliffhanger and I look forward to the next installment.

I was enamored by this story. The author made me feel as if I was hovering above the characters watching their every move along with the crow. You have to read the book to get this reference. I felt Lily and Jonas emotions - joy, pain, love - throughout the story and I felt compelled to comfort them during times of despair. Kudos to this author.
