The Governor's Appointment

The Governor's Appointment raises the curtain on a small town's spiral into greed and corruption and takes the reader on a journey of twists and turns in C. Anthony Sherman's latest fictional novel. Suspense and intrigue surround the city officials and residents of Gloster, a small town in the deep south-- entrenched in tradition and lingering racism. When tens of workers are laid off from the local plywood plant--without severance and no notice--shock waves spread throughout the community. A well connected and observant elder encourages Russell Billy Johnson to run for political office against a twenty-five-year incumbent. Johnson wins and starts to demand services for his district which is repelled by the remaining establishment. The thirty-year mayor commits suicide after Alderman Johnson repeatedly pressed him for answers regarding the Plywood lack of payments to the town for thirty years. The Governor is persuaded to appoint this rookie Alderman as mayor without realizing the enormous ramifications of this temporary appointment. Indeed, "The South Shall Rise Again." But this time, the rising tide in the demographic change is coming from the North.

I want more. Chapter 26 kept me interested. You have a 9. Now I need to know what happened prior to chapter 26 and how this political plot will end for the state of Mississippi.

Dammnnnnnn. I will give you a 10 on this one. And, reduce chapter 26 to an 8. This beginning was wonderful as it flowed. You DEMANDED my attention. You even had my attention at the history lesson. If the other chapters are as great as the beginning, you have a Hit.

RATED 10…very intriguing, real, and a right now conversation. Very forward moving and puts me in mind of Dr. King and others that stepped up to the plate to move society forward for the greater good of all. Where we are in this age requires a change that will benefit every community and neighborhood regardless of ethnicity, economy, etc. Congratulations, Mr. Sherman and please keep me posted on the progress. ABSOLUTELY AWESOME!!!
