Bounty Hunter Victor McCain is approached by Satan to find a woman, Samantha Tyler, in exchange for saving his brother, Mikey, who sold his soul. Victor finds Samantha while battling members of the Church of the Light Reclaimed and supernatural beings. He finds out Samantha stole thirty-million dollars to stop the Satanists from executing the Exodus Project. Over the course of the novel they learn the Exodus Project is a plan to infect school children with a genetically altered form of the bird flu. They try, and eventually secure, the help of the Hand of God, God's bounty hunter. By the end of the book (the first in a series) the Exodus Project has been stopped, but Victor finds out Mikey is one of the leaders of the Satanists, the Hand of God is killed, Samantha captured and Vic looses his soul. To reclaim it, he must become the new Hand of God, find his brother, kill him and save Samantha.
