HOW EASILY ONE'S HEART CAN BE STOLEN...

Some call him Gentleman Jack. The papers prefer Swift Nick. The only name Jack Nevison never uses is the one left to him by his abusive aristocratic father. Jack wants nothing to do with his heritage; instead, he preys on the wealthy, stealing coin (and the occasional kiss) on England's darkest roads. Jack's dangerous deeds are legend, yet the thrill of a highwayman's life is growing cold...until he meets Arabella.

DEPENDS UPON THE THIEF

Beautiful and bold, Arabella Hamilton may come from the world Jack despises, but she's a kindred spirit at heart. When circumstances bring them together the sparks ignite, yet they remain on opposite sides of society and the law and with each encounter, they risk more.

The adventures and exploits of real-life highwayman Swift Nick and the observations and writings of 17th century travel writer Celia Fiennes are woven throughout this tale which takes the reader from the privileged world of London’s aristocracy to the highways and byways, inns and hunting grounds of some of England’s most celebrated rogues. I hope you will enjoy it, and think it worth the wait.

Reviews
Regan's Romance Reviews

This is a well-written sensual romance with history leaping off every page—and so very well done! James leads us through a stirring adventure on the Great North Road...The love scenes are moving and tender. And the ending, while quite unique and splendid, comports with history. The author’s note at the end is a worthy read, too.

The Highwayman Cover and New Release (September 2014)

I am thrilled to be releasing The Highwayman, the third book in the Rakes and Rogues series at last. One of the toughest hurdles in launching a series was finding the right covers. These stories aren’t traditional romance in the current sense of the word, nor are they traditional historicals. They are a blend of fact and fiction, history and romance, with a dash of adventure, a generous helping of sensuality, a bit of a literary twist and an angsty love story at their core. Finding images to represent them, let alone ones that are historically appropriate was a daunting task, but thanks to Rob Lucas I was able to do just that. Blogger, photographer, model, re-enactor, weapons consultant, and clothing designer, Rob also owns a period clothing store. His Rakish Highwayman was the inspiration for all three covers.
