The Inner Connection: A Spiritual Journey of Self-Discovery and Emotional Freedom, One Day at a Time
Darlene Dawn, author

Where recovery meets metaphysics, "The Inner Connection" is simple yet profound. Inspired by "A Course in Miracles," Dawn clearly identifies ways in which we co-create our experience and inspires opening to a new way of seeing. An out-of-body experience and lessons from a wise nonphysical teacher drive home the point that there is more to this life than what meets the eye. As more and more people are seeking a new life after substance abuse treatment, this timely book was written for people who are having difficulty in recovery living "life on life's terms." Because this subject is approached from the perspective of one who has successfully turned her life around after two decades of active addiction, it strikes a chord of authenticity. Nevertheless, “The Inner Connection” is relevant for anyone who desires to grow spiritually.

Reviews
In her debut, Dawn lays out a singular plan for readers wishing to stimulate spiritual growth. “We are one with God” is the message she often repeats while explaining how her spiritual journey began with her desire to become sober. Inspired by the teachings in Helen Schucman’s bestselling A Course in Miracles, Dawn sets out to divulge everything she has learned on her path to spiritual enrichment. Divided into 13 chapters composed of lectures primarily focused on befriending the ego or practicing blind faith, the book provides readers with an exorbitant amount of material that can be unwieldy and overwhelming at times. While much of what is written will seem rudimentary to seasoned readers of New Age and more esoteric interpretations of spirituality, Dawn’s teachings on common sayings such as “all events are neutral,” “everything happens for a reason,” and “all experiences can be valuable” feel fresh in her hands. Believing that spirituality is something that should be practiced as well as studied, she lays out lists of tools to help readers: meditation, yoga, writing, and music. Written from a place of deep humility, Dawn's book, though not groundbreaking, will benefit those searching for a path to spiritual betterment. (BookLife)

Jon Mundy, Ph.D., author of "Living a Course in Miracles"

“Darlene Dawn has written a delightful book filled with truly inspirational instruction in overcoming addictive behavior, turning crashing and burning into awakenings and liabilities into assets. She has found a way to experiencing a deeper level of connectivity, through the development of a relationship with a Higher Power that is there inside each of us if we simply have the courage to look within for answers.”

The Inner Connection by Darlene Dawn is an amazing, soul opening book! I found myself experiencing "chills" several times as I was reading ... Darlene's experiences and message were that powerful. Early on, this phrase caught my attention: "If you embrace spiritual ideals yet have trouble consistently living them, then this book is for you". "Well," I thought, "That certainly describes me!" I resonated so much with Dawn's experiences in addiction and what I would call "lower level living", and I yearn deeply for the peace and freedom that her years of sobriety, plus her Inner Connection, have brought to her life. I am so very grateful that she chose to write this book and share her story with all of us who are seeking more than just what our physical lives supply. Wonderful! I received a free copy of the book in exchange for an honest review.

Simple but profound. Loved this book. With simplicity and ease Darlene Dawn presents profound spiritual principles from the standpoint of someone who has survived addiction and all the issues that accompany it. Her personal journey to recovery led her into new and higher ways of dealing with the common but often painful life issues everyone faces. The book does not simply present comforting words, but explains in easy to understand language how to practice and actually move beyond much of what holds so many in bondage to lack and limitation in all its forms. Building from the principles of AA, she leads the reader to much deeper levels, sharing herself (warts and all) in order that anyone seeking a deeper way of living life, may grow and evolve their personal journey as well. "Inner Connections" is definitely not just for people working their way through some sort of recovery, but is a treasure chest of deep spiritual principles written in easy to understand language for anyone seeking to understand what living on earth is all about.” —Marilyn/www.Onenessofall.com
