The Land That Shivers
Ebele Ufondu, author
The Land That Shivers follows the story of Asa, a young Nigerian man, who must make a living to support his mother and his three sisters following his father’s tragic death. Still jobless after five years of university graduation and desperate job search, he remains determined that hard work and integrity will prevail over his circumstance. Meanwhile Governor Azim, governor of Ekanga State is depriving his citizens of their livelihood by catering more to the good of his pocket than the duties of his office. He surrounds himself with a horde of bodyguards and police that kill at whim. With the judiciary in his pocket, the governor gives off an aura of invincibility. Asa and his fellow citizens have no ammunition against the governor. Finally, faced with a situation where crumbling infrastructure has extinguished hopes of a job, he finds himself at a dangerous crossroads and between choices that will change his life forever.
