The not so bad piranha was a pleasant surprise to read. I did not expect as an adult to feel so attached to the two main characters. Oscar who starts off as really mean and ugly, ends up being a softy and you actually find him cute by the end of the story. As for Marla, she portrays a strong spirited and intelligent female ideal. She teaches young girls to be bold and strong. I cannot wait to receive the paperback and offer it to my friend’s daughter this Christmas.
The Not So Bad Piranha: (Preschool, ages 6-8, early reader, bullying, emotions)
Carole St-Laurent, author
Will a brave, sweet goldfish become a nasty piranha’s dinner? In a very unique pet-shop, all the animals are cheerful and happy, except for that gloomy piranha who’s only pleasure in life is to terrorize his neighbouring goldfish. An important lesson of kindness, thoughtlessness, and positivism. Theme; bullying, kindness, change. Ages 3 to 5
