The Other Side of Me: a heart-warming tale of laughter, love & 'worry monkeys'
Back in 1994 an 18 year old Freddie Hobbs appears to have a clear vision of his future, which he hopes will include the girl he's besotted with, his best friend the lovely Lisa. But there's just one small problem because he hasn't bothered to tell her how he feels.....yet! Then a chance encounter with school friend Karen leads to his first sexual experience, which only serves to confuse him even further. What will he do and will his plans have to change? Now, 19 years later, Freddie thinks his life is just perfect, even if it isn't exactly as he'd imagined it when he was 18. Some years earlier, the tragic accident which killed his parents had dramatically changed his life just as his long held dream was within touching distance. But now he realises that if it hadn't been for that unfortunate event his life may not be as good as it has turned out to be. But right at this moment something is threatening to spoil his happiness and his seemingly perfect marriage.....and suddenly a tiny seed of doubt is quickly becoming a problem. Is the threat real or just in his own head? He'll need to control a mischievous little 'Worry Monkey' before it ruins everything. Along with some amusing moments from his role at the local theatre, the story follows the up's and sometimes feisty downs of Freddie's relationship as he and his partner embark on the exciting journey into starting a family, but things aren't happening fast enough for one of them....could there be a problem?

The Other Side of Me
I really loved this book!!!
This was a really nice easy reading story with the bonus of a happy ending.
Yes it’s a little unusual for a romance as it’s written from the male characters point of view, but it works well with a mixture of humour and some very touching moments as well.
I love a book I can settle down with in front of the fire (and of course a glass of wine) and this is one of those books. The characters are so believable, from the antics of Freddie and his friends at the theatre, to the wonderfully cuddly Uncle Roy and the overly camp and opinionated Oscar. But mostly I couldn’t wait for Freddie to return home to Lisa hoping that everything was going to work out for them both.
