The Public Good
A once a year shot with a one hundred percent success rate, Ovucontra has been tapped to be the contraception of choice in a revolutionary health care bill that will cover a select list of medications for everyone in the country. But when something sounds too good to be true, there’s always a catch. When journalist Alondra Alvarez is tipped off that Ovucontra causes certain women to go sterile, she initially thinks it’s an unintended side effect. But as she learns more about the drug and the company that manufactures it, she uncovers a conspiracy that leads all the way to Congress. A trail of dark money reveals a group of so-called patriots who’ll do anything to preserve what they consider the natural order of the nation, and one by one, any person who tries to bring up the drug’s side effects ends of up dead. Now Alondra is the hitman’s next target as she races to uncover the truth before she becomes the next person to be silenced.

Men Reading Books

This book crackled with a level of authenticity that is usually associated with insider knowledge. You know, a book that might've been written by a former Big Pharma employee, an MD, or a former congressional staffer. Those sorts. You'd never know McHugh is a romance novelist. I was welded to my seat reading this. And when my Kindle wasn't in my hands, I was looking for reasons to stop what I was doing in order to get back to it. I was left stunned. Obviously, McHugh knows how to write. But a medical/political/journalist thriller? Who knew. Could've easily read this in one sitting.

Pick this one up. Anyone who likes thrillers based on investigative reporting, medicine, or politics will find this one right up their alley.
