A woman named Francine is transported from modern day America to late Victorian England. She must find a place to belong in a world she doesn't understand. Compounding her difficulty is a man who believes he has the right to posses her, and ultimately kidnaps her from the only home she's known in her new life. Gideon, the Duke of Roxleigh, rescues her with the help of his brother and cousins. Gideon's brother, Perry, gets caught up in yet another mess, caring for a woman, Lily, who was attacked by the same man who came after Francine. In the end, Gideon and Francine are married, Perry and Lily are married, and Hepplewort is dead.
