A Berlin mobster has hired a ruthless assassin to murder the German chancellor Claudia Meyer. German Intelligence has been trying to catch the assassin for years without success. Now it falls to Captain Sophie Decker and Lieutenant Wolfgang Schmitz to save the life of the chancellor and finally bring down the assassin who has long eluded the German state.
I really enjoyed this novel and read it through in one sitting. Decker is a female German intelligence officer living in a man's world and doing quite an excellent job stepping on their toes and beliefs. I can hardly wait for the next novel.
If Die Hard would have had a female lead, Decker would have been it.
Loved it and it's hard to believe this is his first fictional novel. Sophie Decker is my newest favorite heroine. She gets the job done and doesn't suffer fools who try to get in her way. Luckily the German Chancellor recognizes her abilities, too bad all of our political leaders weren't as astute as she is and only hope most of our intelligence personnel are half as insightful and intuitive as Sophie. Keeping my fingers crossed for a movie deal in Mark O'Neill's future.
