Most everything we believe about Hell was written 700 years ago, by Dante in his INFERNO. An update is long overdue! (2020 is the 700th Anniversary of Dante’s Divine Comedy.) Like Dante, Luigi is lost (in LA). and Robin Williams, from the Circle of Comedians, guides Luigi through our self-created hells, not a place set apart by some god to punish sinners. Our heroes receive the verdicts of the Rachel Carson Sphinx and the last descendant of the Garden’s original serpent that, having taken the choice between good and evil, we’ve chosen ill and created hell on earth. We visit hells created by technology, polluting corporations, addiction, the NRA, sex traffickers, abuse of women, religions and political war criminals (the heroes of our history books). As we travel deep into the abyss of human tragedy, Luigi must face his own demons who emerge through Robin’s challenges, acknowledging his own contributions to hell. Finally, after being presented and tempted with future choices from the body shops in the Reincarnation Mall, Luigi accepts the retribution befitting his crimes, then emerges through the Gates of Purgatory toward hope and redemption. The Journey is told with humor, compassion, introspection, despair, and hope, not as victims saved but as a humanity awakened. We meet our demons, demigods and despots along the way, advocates all!
