I am, Romonia Jean, author of “The Stewardess Chronicle: A Cautionary Tale,” which is a self-published memoir book in the body, mind, and spirit genre with 101,000 words. Although my book is self-published, I have not received any marketing or book publicity which is resulting in no books sales because no exposure, means no readers, which is why I’m in need of your book review. I started this project with not much, and due to my recent covid-19 work furlough changes, my marketing budget is non-existent. I believe my finished book will keep you as the reader entertain with the various taboo and table talk controversial topics and celebrity passenger filled photos which creates realness to The Stewardess Chronicle story: topics of men that a lot of single women can relate to regardless if they are professional famous athletes, love, relationships, feminism, civil, social and political rights are relevant to current news events. Other books that can be compared to this story would be: “Confessions of A Video Vixen” by Karrine Steffans, “Judge This Cover” by Brittany Runner, “The Misadventures of A Retired Jersey Chaser” by Rosi Blasi. The Stewardess Chronicle: A Cautionary Tale is a story about a type of jersey chaser lifestyle. Urban culture and the metaphysical world; this book touches different topics that will keep the reader entertained. More about the author, Romonia Jean who tells the story about her life living on the south side of Chicago as a single romantic in a hook-up culture. Raised in a gang infested neighborhood where robberies and gun violence happen daily, Romonia writes the soul cry of the inner-city blues. The Stewardess Chronicle: A Cautionary-Tale/Synopsis Disclaimer: A message from the airline stewardess is the opening of “The Stewardess Chronicle: A Cautionary Tale” is introducing the main character, Romonia, and her purpose for writing this part-memoir-part-cautionary tale. “Since deciding to write this book, I have gotten six tarot card readings at Witchy Wearables, made endless trips back to the city of New Orleans, attended two Drake concerts (Aubrey and The Three Migos Tour), and have been abstaining from sexual orgasms for over three-hundred days. This book was not an easy process. While getting through the death of a loved one and dealing with family drama, I pushed to get this project completed.” This cautionary tale talks about spirituality, men, intimacy, family, love of music, celebrity gossip of featured celebrities from work flights, and of course the taboo subjects of sex, interracial dating, police brutality is relevant to how black lives, black culture, and black history do matter in today’s society. The disclaimer is to inform the reader about these taboo subjects and is a personal letter from the author to the reader. Romonia shares in her disclaimer the blood, sweat, and tears that were poured into this project during such a stressful time in her family life after losing a loved that the reader is introduced to throughout the story. Spilling the tea about her attempts to form a personal intimate relationship with several famous professional athletes, and the levels to recovery after the failed loves lost. During chapter one, Professional Level, Romonia introduces the reader to her life as an airline stewardess as she takes you on a trip from her base in Chicago to London, and also shares the memories of her first overnight with professional basketball player, Twenty, at his home in Orlando. A college dropout, Romonia whose nickname is, Mona, enjoys the new journey of her airline stewardess lifestyle. Friends mostly with her girl cousins, Romonia must separate herself from them and focus more on her social life, drama free. Romonia exchanges numbers with a southern gentleman football player in St. Louis. Once things fail between her and the NFL defensive lineman hottie, she soon exchanges numbers with his NFL high school rival. Before her work base transfer from Chicago to Miami, Romonia splurges on herself to appreciate all her hard work then gets a makeover to move on from the relationship that came with defensive endings. Now a Miami based international airline stewardess, Romonia is traveling across the globe. After an interview for her own reality dating show opportunity, Romonia hits the skies to her first Caribbean work layover in St. Martin with a few airline stewardess girlfriends. Taking a break to focus on rebuilding family relationships, Romonia takes a break from men vowing to practice celibacy. From meeting famous political activists and celebrities in the airport terminals to flying to South American every week, Romonia is living the glamorous south beach stewardess lifestyle. As life was getting balanced for Romonia in chapter four, Secretary Stewardess, she is hit with tragedy. Romonia is robbed downtown in Chicago one night after leaving a social event. “The nightmares wouldn’t stop. Getting robbed at gunpoint by three guys was the last thing I thought would happen to me at the start of Labor Day weekend. Talking to the police, my primary care doctor, and the airline union representative about what happen made the experience seem surreal.” To get over the horrific night Romonia takes a break from the airline stewardess lifestyle. After the tragic event life turns for an interesting work affair when Romonia is hired by a 35-year-old retired NBA player as his and nightclub secretary. Romonia struggles with her self-identity as she learns to move forward with her life after the robbery by making new connections at her new job with her new coworkers. A lover’s quarrel has turned into a love jones filled with broken promises. Romonia prepares to celebrate her 27th birthday at home leaving her job as Bossman’s personal assistant and nightclub manager. Romonia does some self-discovery and suffers from a heartbreak, with accepting her fling with her former boss is now over, as she prepares to return the airplane for work. Easter holiday Romonia celebrates her second year as an airline stewardess by counting her blessings on a morning flight to Los Angeles, California. When Romonia takes a picture with a famous rapper from Chicago, Romonia steps outside herself as she sees the appearance and depression since the terrible ending to her fling with the retired NBA baller and former boss. After a horrible work flight where Romonia is the reference in a racial slur from a white male passenger, she began to see her career in the airline industry changing for the worse. Inflight Reality Spotlight, chapter seven, is filled with Romonia’s celebrity passengers’ gossip, and the catching of new athlete with more ego than he can handle. Her first month back at 38,000 after the worst flight of career, greeted Romonia with fame. She meets the Venezuelan baseball pitcher days after he has won the World Series. They did not exchange numbers, but Romonia wasn’t missing out, she had her star NBA rookie, Five. Ending her year with meeting famous passengers like an NFL player and reality television star, Romonia celebrities her 28th birthday on New Years' Eve at the casino with her mother and elderly aunt that Romonia has agreed to help her momma care for. Chapter seven starts the new year off for Romonia with demanding yet fun work trips and another television opportunity that she turns down. From the rookie Five to snapping photos with a flirtatious controversial celebrity actor who pleads for her telephone number, in front of an airplane full of passengers, Romonia is enjoying her career. One personal flight to Atlanta spending a hot steamy, lusty hookup with Five, then flying back to the city for work where she meets a famous feminist who is known for being hot with her plastic surgery roomers. Layover over the summer became a cure for her depression of not accomplishing her educational goals after she enrolls back in college. Beauty appointments, work, and shopping allows Romonia to over the heated feud with the rookie, Five. After lots of video chatting Romonia meets a new man who is a professional basketball player, “Jordan” is her sexy summer lover from Los Angeles. When her mother’s husband cheats Romonia takes a girl’s trip to New Orleans with her momma. Beignets and Louisiana spells, Romonia visit her first Voodoo Shop that where she purchases good luck candles for her career and love life. Labor Day weekend is filled with south beach fun when Romonia gets to fly a trip to Miami for work that includes a two-day layover with a buddy stewardess. While out in Miami, Romonia gets stopped by a random woman who claims to be a fortune teller that her friend does not trust. Thinking of her past experiences with fortunetellers Romonia thinks to burn her candle and takes the advice of the gifted strangers. Since meeting the famous feminist who is known for her curves, Romonia begins to save her money for plastic surgery, attendant bartending school and lands a side job as a Hooters Girl. A short-lived career at the restaurant Romonia quits playing waitress after a fight in the restaurant that occurred while she took a personal day trip to New Orleans. Spending time with her family is adding stress with the cares of her aunt, and no male companionship. Romonia finds ambition as a casino bartender. Balancing two jobs and family has become demanding and Romonia wants personal time with a guy who is her type. Deciding to not have surgery Romonia learns to accept her insecurities and searches for her father’s approval. Filled with base location options for Romona in both her airline stewardess career as well as in her off-the-court chase of the seven-foot-tall basketball player, Ace is a major key. After going back and forth in mind about a second attempt to meet with the baller, Romonia decides to carry on with the fling. May 3, 2018 – Chicago to New Orleans – Flight 1310 – Jumpseat “I’m sorry but every seat on the flight is full. The jumpseat is available; would you like to take it?” the gate agent asked. I didn’t care what seat she gave me as long as I got on the oversold flight. Getting to New Orleans on time for check-in at the hotel in the French Quarter was the first goal to accomplish. “That’s perfect. Thank you,” I said and grabbed my suitcase. Romonia checks-in to her full flight to New Orleans where she plans to meet with Ace. Unpacking at the hotel, Romonia decides to go out and sightsee in her new favorite city. Romonia sends a message to Ace that goes unanswered. Going into the Marie Laveau Voodoo Shop, Romonia goes out onto Bourbon Street then hits the French Quarter where she stumbles upon a small shop, Voodoo Authentica. Once inside Romonia purchases a spelled oil that is supposed to draw your mate. Since there were no words back from Ace, Romonia decides to give the oil a try. Once Romonia returns to the hotel she showers and uses the oil which puts her into a deep sleep. Reading her phone Romonia is notices that Ace sent a message while she was sleeping several hours earlier. The two agree to meet after Ace’s game in the late evening hours. After much trial and error, the two, Romonia and Ace, finally spend their time together. Jersey Chaser Stewardess wraps the story and ends with Romonia and her mother laying to rest her Aunt Bell and living the life that her aunt wanted for her, which was to be happy no matter what. “As I walked out of the funeral home saying goodbye to the physical part of her, Auntie Bell’s words from one of our talks during the summer days on the porch stayed with me; Auntie Bell said, “Shoot, if I was an airline stewardess back in my day. You wouldn’t be able to tell me nothing. Have fun child.”
