The Time Artist takes place in the turbulent New York art scene of 1968.
Rachel, a passionate art student, drops acid with her friends and briefly sees through her future eyes. She’s shocked to find a black revolver fitted neatly in her hand, then horrified to catch a fleeting glimpse of a body facedown in a pool of blood. She fears the victim is her boyfriend. Over the course of the school year she flashes forward repeatedly and unexpectedly, finding clues about the shooting in sexual rivalries, warring painting styles, guerrilla theater, psychedelic hallucinations, drug deals gone wrong, and devastating dirty tricks. To make matters worse, when she’s time traveling, the body she leaves behind becomes what is known in consciousness studies as a philosophical zombie, meaning it acts on its own while her conscious mind is elsewhere.
