5.0 out of 5 stars:  SET YOURSELF FREE OF PAIN BY READING CINDY'S BOOK

ByS. Strattonon November 15, 2015

Cindy Perlin, LCSW is an excellent writer. When I received her book in the mail, I could not put it down. Her book "The Truth About Chronic Pain Treatments" is easy to understand, well written, with a factual explanation on how to deal with chronic pain. She exposes the greed and truth behind the pharmaceutical companies, the AMA along with other big businesses that are in their field for MONEY. She loads the reader with other alternatives that could set you free. She explains simply and easily many other options the reader can choose from vs. throwing your hard earned money away on what may NOT work. I met Cindy back in the early 90's and was in awe of her intelligence, her field of work and how much she cared about others who struggle with chronic pain. She is a dedicated, hard working, kind person who knows what she is talking about. I highly suggest purchasing this book for your own reading. To gain yet more knowledge on your journey with pain could be your answer. I have been PAIN FREE since meeting and talking to Cindy. I used Nutritional Alternatives to heal my chronic pain which at the time was destroying my life. Cindy refers to using nutritional healing in her book - something a Physician would never talk about. If you are not suffering from pain - then purchase this book for a loved one or friend who is. You will NOT be sorry. Kudos to Cindy for achieving her dream of being able to help others through her own experience along with gathering testimonies from others to help more people become pain free. Cindy - you are an Angel sent from Heaven for those who struggle with daily pain and have no where else to go....but to your BOOK.

5.0 out of 5 stars:  A heads-up for all of us about our options for treatment

Bykimon November 14, 2015

Cindy Perlin writes for the layperson about real solutions to pain management. She explains why these solutions are not common knowledge and why the nonphamaceutical treatments are not commonly suggested by physicians despite the fact that they are very useful and present far fewer risks compared with the big Pharma meds we all hear about daily in the media. She looks at the topic from several different perspectives. This is information we all need to know!!

5.0 out of 5 stars: Cindy makes my blood boil.

ByGary Ames on October 24, 2015

I just finished The Truth About Chronic Pain Treatments by Cindy Perlin. I read it quickly both because it is easy to read and because the content is so compelling. The stakes are high because one third of Americans will have chronic pain. But the stakes are even higher than that because the book is about a wide variety of treatments that are effective for pain, but also many other ailments that also cause needless suffering.

The book is clearly written and organized into chapters about a therapies that work for pain including chiropractic, physical therapy, acupuncture, biofeedback, massage therapy, homeopathy, nutrition, herbs, energy medicine, psychotherapy, exercise programs, low level lasers, etc. Oh, and she also starts by covering drugs and surgery.

The book is compelling because it is infuriating. Each chapter has plain evidence of an effective intervention that is vastly under-recognized, under-funded, under-referred, and under-published. I did not know that Americans use 80% of the worlds opioids. I did not know all the ways suppression of treatments occur.

As a practitioner of one of these therapies I cheered at the evidence and was dashed by the reality of dismissal by the establishment: Big Pharma, Big Medicine, Big Education, Big Insurance, Big Publishing, FDA, etc. Is more research evidence a fool’s errand?

Like you, I love someone who suffers from chronic pain. I’ll use this book as a guide to select and cobble together treatment options. I’m also giving a copy to an innovative healer who has discovered an extraordinary therapy. His battle is steeply uphill.

5.0 out of 5 stars:  Finally, a reliable AND useful guide to pain freedom!

ByAllan Davidsonon October 19, 2015

Cindy Perlin presents the best guide ever to the poorly understood (and too often badly treated) problem
of chronic pain.

She's done pioneer work as a pain practitioner and as a researcher she explains the various treatment
modalities with great clarity. Most important, she shows how we really can get out of a life of chronic pain.
You'll also learn more than you could have imagined about big pharma and the chronic pain industry

5.0 out of 5 stars  Honest, Helpful, Comprehensive Strategic Approach To Seeking Relief From Chronic Pain

ByDavid J. Spellmanon October 18, 2015

This is an excellent and honest book to help those who suffer with chronic pain.
The book begins with an evidence-based, analytical framework and then examines fourteen different categories of treatment (with all the varying sub treatments assessed). All the plusses and minuses are explored. The author is honest and does not put her thumb on the scale, because you will need to use all the information to pursue your own unique plan of treatment.
The author is motivated by her own suffering with pain, but she writes as the professional that she is. In other words, her personal story is used only to illustrate concepts to help the reader...the book is not one of those narcissistic "my journey" books that always seemed to make the Oprah audience clap like trained seals. The author respects you, the reader, and helps you with great empathy and insight on each page.
I won't spoil the book for you but I must say that I had no idea what Rolfing was until I read those most beneficial few pages.
Another huge a-ha was that the manufacturer of OxyContin made over 10 Billion Dollars in profit just in 2010 (most recent data) from the annual sale of the drug. Amazing. And think of how much harm this "hillbilly heroin" has caused.
First-rate tool to help those who suffer with pain. If you care about someone in pain, including yourself, this is a MUST.
