THINK Again: The Rometty Edition

Adult; Business & Personal Finance; (Market)

THINK Again: The Rometty Edition: is about one-hundred years of unique interactions between IBM’s leaders, employees, shareholders, customers, and their supportive societies. It is about the corporation’s great, good, bad and ugly moments, and in this century, some of its least productive.

The Rometty Edition is the latest edition published in December 2020 that was updated to include the following: (1) a preface by the author that was not previously included, (2) updates to all charts, graphs, and data points throughout the book through the end of 2019, (3) and a chapter has been devoted to capturing the performance of IBM’s first female chief executive officer, Virginia M. (Ginni) Rometty.

This additional chapter focuses on the former chief executive’s key performance metrics such as goodwill, shareholder risk and returns, revenue and profit generation, and sales and profit productivity. It examines her acquisition strategy and includes insights into her bet-the-business decision to acquire Red Hat.

THINK Again is about IBM, but it is NOT a technical book--mainframe is the most technical term used. Don’t be concerned if you aren’t technically minded.

THINK Again discusses IBM’s finances, but it is NOT a financial book--goodwill is the most complex financial term used to document the company’s twentieth century creation of good goodwill, and its twenty-first century over-production of bad goodwill. Don’t be concerned if you aren’t financially minded.

THINK Again, first and foremost, is about IBM's human relations practices of the last one-hundred years: great, good, bad and ugly human relations.
