“This image of one’s vat overflowing with water or inspiration seems to fill this volume of poems that read as if one is at a smorgasbord, sampling whatever looks interesting.  Mr. Schenck uses an array of formats for the poems, from cinquain to outline poems, extended free verse to three-line units. He toys with font sizes and includes two prose essays, making the experience of reading this collection both surprising and delightful. While some of the poems use satire and humor, others are simple and heart-felt.  He uses far-ranging references from ancient history to modern-day news, from literature and art to Bollywood. . . . These poems are interesting and complex . . . I very much enjoyed this read which proved to be what the title offered, “playful” and “emotional” and very intelligent and thought-provoking glimpses.”
