Threed, This Road Not Damascus is a dialogue between the speaker and other-worldly persona, “Three-Breasted Woman,” exploring the speaker’s relationship to self, lineage, culture, community, and religion. “Three-Breasted Woman” defies feminine stereotypes of “damsels in distress;” she saves herself. Employing the ancestral and mythological, the poems confront the chaos of the contemporary social landscape with clarity and courage.
