Barnes & Nobel Review

This is the first book I’ve read by Tabi Slick. Tompkin’s School is about Izara and her brother Kain who are sent to a boarding school in Oklahoma because they clash with their father’s new mistress. At this point Izzy and Kain seem perfectly normal teens, but when they get to Tompkin’s school strange things begin to happen to both of them. I loved that the plot was so fast moving yet didn’t feel rushed, and I got to enjoy this thrilling ride with the twins and their friends. Can’t wait for the next one!

A Talented Four-Star Read

Tomkins School for the Extraordinarily Talented by Tabi Slick a talented four-star read. This is number one in the Supernatural Academy trilogy and I am excited to sink into the rest of the trilogy, I am so excited for number two, I need to see what happens next. The world building and character development was very well done and even though they were out there they were believable and made you need to know more about the characters, especially Izara and Kain, they reminded me of when curiosity caught the cat, and I know that’s not exactly what I mean to say, but honestly it’s the closest I can come up with without giving the game away. Bring on the rest of the series as I need more academy in my life, I would have given this five-stars but there was a couple of points that just made me stop.

Great Characters

Tompkin’s School: For The Extraordinarily Talented (A Supernatural Academy Trilogy Book 1) by Tabi Slick is a great introduction to this series. The Torvik, twins Izzy and Kain are great characters, can’t wait to see their development in future stories. The world the author builds, seems familiar but also new and strange. The story kept my interest and kept me turning pages. I must say I was not prepared for the cliff hanger. I am looking forward to the next one.

BookBub Review

The story Tompkin's School: For The Extraordinarily Talented (A Supernatural Academy Trilogy Book 1) by Tabi Slick is a wonderful book that I loved reading. It hooked me in from the beginning and I didn’t want to put it down until I had read the final page. The main character finds that they can shift into a demon and that someone is trying to use their powers for evil. The book has mystery and danger. The story is written in such a way that I could feel the emotions and conflict that comes from the main character. The author does an amazing job of weaving a tale that had me turning pages wondering what was going to happen next. In addition to the main character, there are also secondary ones, each with their part to play. There are those with an evil agenda and also those who are helpful and friendly. Don’t miss out on a story that is interesting, intriguing, and entertaining. I would highly recommend reading it.

Izara and her twin brother Kain are shipped off to a boarding school by their dad, but it’s not just the new move that rattles the twins, they change and I don’t mean metaphorically. Such a brilliant unique story, I’m really looking forward to the next book.

I found out this is Tabi Slick’s first novel after I had finished it and I must say this is a very good and well thought out, exciting, and adventurous read that you would think that this is an author who has been writing forever. I am so excited to run and check out the other books in the series now! In this novel we meet Izara and Kain, twins that are figuring out that their world is not what it seems and that their magic is only just beginning to come to fruition. BookBub Review

This is a tale of transferring to a new high school, in a new place and let’s not forget that it is a boarding school as well. This tale starts with a landing plane and setting off to a new, unknown place and the one who pick’s the new passengers to take them to their new home, is none other than a local policeman who takes them to stay with him and his family for the night, before hitching a ride with his son to the new school the next day. While looking out of the car window, a realisation hits that the new school is in the middle of nowhere and that there will be nothing interesting there. On arrival there is something a bit unusual and off about the new school and from driving up to the gates, the place and the people within it are astounding, but not all for the best reasons, being shown around, normality resurfaces with the meeting of roommates, finding out what the school year will look like and who the teachers will be. As everyone at the school starts to settle in, that things are not as they seem and the people are not who they are perceived to be, and the fact that one of them has black wings and shifts into a demon on the full moon, is a lot to handle on top of everything else. there are twists and turns in this adventure, but will the ties that they develop last the distance, or will this school break those bonds? There are discoveries to find, decisions to be made and mysteries to uncover, how can anyone still maintain who they are as they get through these new challenges and stay in control of the darkness within? You can only find out by reading the book and it will keep you guessing about what will happen all the way to the end.

Tompkin’s School: For The Extraordinarily Talented (A Supernatural Academy Trilogy Book 1) by Tabi Slick was an extraordinary read. First off, I loved that the setting for this story was in Oklahoma. The author did an excellent job of bringing it to life in this fictional novel. She gave the various scenery great detail and made it easy to visualize. Secondly, I loved main characters Izzy and Kain. Their names were unique and easy to use. They were both fun and I loved their sibling bond. The story was told more from Izzy's point of view but she allowed both characters to really shine. I enjoyed watching them grow and develop as the storyline progressed. They endured quite a lot after moving to the Academy. If you are looking for an excellent paranormal/young adult novel, this is it. I highly recommend it.

Dean From Australia

Tabi Slick's first entry into her Tompkin's School series is an engaging YA adventure that evolves into a kinetic mystery with powerful paranormal elements. After a somewhat tentative start in which Slick devotes a lot to establishing her cast, the story picks up the pace becoming quite epic in its scope with plenty of action.

Her protagonist, Izara Torvik, is a young woman who is at once vulnerable and wide eyed, having been thrust from a cloistered and privileged New York existence into a totally unfamiliar Oklahoma environment. Along with her twin brother Kain, she has to find reserves of strength and resourcefulness fairly quickly in order to face the powerful and violent forces that reside within the Tompkin's School. Her growth, in particular, is appealing and satisfying to watch.

Slick's grasp of tension and mood is attractive and she is able to infuse an unpredictability into her narrative that keeps you guessing right up to the climax.

Tabi Slick's series crackles with potential and I'm really keen to see where it goes in subsequent entries. Tompkin's School For The Extraordinarily Talented is a gem.

Jupiter Grove Review

Izara and her twin brother are sent to a boarding school in Oklahoma. It is very different than they imagined, and it will be an adjustment. Soon she discovers it is not an ordinary school, and there are secrets revealed. Izara finds herself in a situation that she never expected, never thought possible. Will she do the right thing even though everything seems to be going against her?

Izara is very likable, she is a teen trying to fit in to a new environment. Then she discovers the secrets the school holds and finds herself in an unexpected and unbelievable situation. Watching how she handles this, and what she must do was intense. A true page turner. Overall I found Tompkin's School to be a fast paced original story, with drama, danger, mystery, supernatural (forces) and a hint of romance. I recommend to Y/A and Adult readers as well.

Perfection In Books

This is an interesting start to a series with a lot of mystery!

The Writing:
I quite enjoyed the writing!
We read from Izara's POV all time but at the same time it didn't felt that way.

The Story:
This story was much darker than I spected, much scarier if you want and mixed a bunch of things.
If you like:
•Demons/Angels stuff
•Superpowers
•Story played between past and present being in both times
•Romance but not being the main thing
•Mysteries
•Strong family relationship
Then I think this is for you because this book has all that.
I just think this is a book you need to discover and whatever I might say may be a hint of something.
I enjoyed the story, I thought it was quite original and I hope in next books we can see more of the world as well as understand everything more because the author left some mysteries to be solved...

The Characters:
•Izara: I liked her though she sometimes was too impulsive I liked her.
•Kain: He was I think the kind of mystery dark guy, moody that is good deep down but prefers to be alone. I liked him. He was more impulsiva than Izara sometimes but then roles would invert.
•I just want to say I love these brothers. They compliment each other so well, when one is being impulsive the other is the reasonable voice; they helped each other; they protected each other; it was just a great relationship. I really value how important it is for both characters and for the story.
•Lee: OMG! Can I have a Lee for myself? Such a sweet, intelligent, sexy pack! He was supportive and understanding. I just hope so so much that one day I find someone like him!
•Kia: I liked her,I'm not really fond of her but I don't hate her.
•Chuck: He was frustrating, annoying and easy to hate!

Overall, I enjoyed this book, I enjoyed the characters though I don't think they had a big character development; I enjoyed the story, thought it had many interesting line plots that I enjoyed; I would like to read more because I need to find out what happens!
