Truth is the second volume in Parker Sinclair's urban fantasy, The Alex Conner Chronicles. Alex has temporarily left San Diego to stay with her grandmother's best friend, Dana, who is a formidable mentor and trainer. Alex spends her days dodging, or at least attempting to dodge, the missiles Dana hurls at her from every possible direction. She's amazed to hear that Dana has actually been in contact with Alex's mother, Stacy, and that her father, whom she had long believed was dead, may possibly be alive and attempting to reunite with her and her mother. Alex's training is interrupted by an urgent call from home. Her best friend from college, Shane, has been in a major car accident and is in critical condition. She's determined to get to the hospital and use her healing powers to keep him alive and restore his health, and to find her foster-brother, Greg, who she's convinced had a hand in the crash.

Parker Sinclair's urban fantasy, Truth: The Alex Conner Chronicles, can be read on its own, but you really owe it to yourself to start with Trust, the first book in the series. Truth continues and expands beautifully on that first book, and the reader can't help but get involved in the journey of exploration and healing that Alex embarks on as she seeks to be reunited with her parents and to learn more about her gifts. I loved the way Sinclair broadens Alex's universe through her dream-states and incorporates the mystery of the murdered healers into her plot. Sinclair's characters are masterfully drawn, and I was particularly taken by the characters of Dana, Vex, the fox, and Valant, a most engaging and urbane demon. Truth is fast paced, with plenty of action and some outstanding panoramic views of the Pacific Coast, the Arizona desert, and Glacier National Park. This original and entertaining fantasy is highly recommended.
