This is a true-life saga of massive life disruption, harsh treatment, total loss of family, near-death escapes, and years of Nazi enslavement of the author's parents. It is told from the first person viewpoint in his father's voice, plunging the reader into his predicament. HIs mother's history is also included but limited being a difficult topic for her to discuss. As sole survivors of their birth families, they meet after liberation in a DP camp to renew family and life. A theme throughout is the author's father's vivid perception that his late grandmother (Bubbe) hovers over him as a guardian angel.
