Wheels of Justice
When Connie Knight applies for a job at McKinney’s Fine Cars in her hometown of Redwood, Texas, she has no idea what she’s getting into. Buford McKinney is an evil bully who thinks women are the ground God made for men to walk on. The only reason Connie stays at McKinney’s is the fear of ending up homeless. And then there’s Rick McKinney, Buford’s son. In spite of his daddy’s contempt for Connie, Rick is attracted to her and Connie to him. In the weeks following, Connie is constantly subjected to humiliating treatment by Buford McKinney. Rick and his sister Monica defend her at every turn, but the abuse continues. Then Connie’s philandering ex-husband shows up, asking for money and threatening to make life uncomfortable for her. He makes the unfortunate mistake of trying to involve Buford in his ploy to get money and pays with his life. Buford is arrested for murder, but Rick arranges bail for him. After all, it is his father. Buford hires two guys to follow Rick to see if he is spending time with Connie. Rick decides it’s safer for Connie if they aren’t involved. When he tells her that he is nothing more than her boss, she is heartbroken, but knows he’s probably right. It all comes to a head when Buford finds Connie alone at the car dealership and attacks her. Rick blames himself for the attack and distances himself from her. Meanwhile, Buford is arrested again and this time, there is no bail. He’s found guilty and sent to prison for life. Without Buford around, Connie and Rick are now free to pursue their relationship.
