From the first page to the last I was sucked in. I kept thinking that at some point the author would abandon her writing style and just finish the story, but she didn't. She kept true to the detail and quality of work in the beginning of the book all the way to the end. I also loved that she left just enough untied story lines in the end so that you feel completely satisfied with the story told, and at the same time begging for more. Great book, I would suggest this to kids 10-12 and up. The romantic lines are very Jane Austen - a brush of the hand here, foreheads pressed together there, with a few kisses at the end. There is a bit of violence, but nothing horribly gruesome. In the end it is a well written fantastical story, and I can't wait for the next book to come out.

I really loved this book. I've never been a big fantasy reader, but this book came highly recommended and I enjoy reading pretty much everything, so I thought I would give it a try. This book did not disappoint. From the beginning of the story I was swept away into the mystical world of faeries, goblins, pixies, and Mother Earth's magical creatures. The story is enticing and spellbinding. The details are incredible and you can actually imagine yourself soaring through the trees, or touching each individual blade of grass as you walk through a lush field. The characters are also vivid, real, and full of depth; it's hard not to become attached.
You become enthralled in the battle between light and darkness, but are taught that things are never as black and white as they may seem. Loveland takes you on a beautiful journey. Her words at times will fill you with trepidation, fear and despondency, but completely immerses you in love, goodness and hope.
I highly recommend this book and am so looking forward to the next!

I've been chopping down trees for the past 10 years, not for profit or anything... just mindlessly chopping down trees out of spite. Now that I understand the value of trees and their spirits, I count on them. I can now say I've been lumberjack free for 3 weeks. I've even made some new friends (most of them trees)! I threw away all my flannel shirts and shaved my beard! I'm glad to say I've finally buried the hatchet. Thanks Ylsnavan!

I originally bought Ylsnavan because I was looking for something new and exciting to read. As an avid science fiction and fantasy reader, I’ve had many good reading experiences and I was hoping for another. Thankfully, it didn’t disappoint! Ylsnavan definitely had that exciting, page-turning factor for me, and from the first chapter, I was captivated. As the story developed further, I formed deep connections with each character and felt their heartbreak, excitement, confusion, and surprise. It isn’t just a senseless escape from reality to read this book, but a poignant journey that asks questions about our own human experience and dilemmas in the world we know. I got the excitement I was looking for in a book, but I ended up feeling very uplifted and contemplative as well. I loved it and would recommend it to anyone. I’m really excited for the next book!

A refreshing, captivating and riveting read that takes you into the depths of this spell binding, and twist turning adventure. The characters seem to come to life and you want to protect each one. It's a real page turner with the unexpected uncertainty lurking just around the corner. I really love how it is not about just one character, but a band of several, who are somehow all brought together in several destined paths that all lead to one cause. Even the "evil" one has a twist that will catapult you into contemplating the reality of our perception of good and evil, that perhaps evil itself is only a part of the Universal Spirit or God, sent to help us obtain our spiritual fulfillment. The character that carries out the task of wreaking havoc across the realm, is not your typical bad guy just looking out for power and control, but without giving away the book, you will be shocked and amazed about the evil entity's purpose. I was blown away at this refreshing and unique perspective that goes beyond just a fascinating story. But that there maybe some truth to the fact that evil is brought about by the unconciousness of man, and that the "evil one" is actually sent to help raise consciousness and obtain spiritual fulfillment. There is much room for great discussion about this character and would be a great book club read. Either way, its a book that I prefer to hold in my hands instead of a ebook, but I am glad to have both so I can access it whenever I like. Its a read and reread!
There is not enough I can say about this story, except that I can't wait for the next one to come out.
In conclusion, its a read for anyone who loves fantasy, believes in the fae, not as fluffy tinker bells, but real beings from other realms that are connected to ours. It incorporates energy healing, and experiential nature with animals, aspects that comes directly from the author's experience in healing and horses as is described in the author's bio. Truly a person beyond her years with the depth of this incredible tale.
In essence, not only do I love this first of a trilogy series, I love how the reader gently takes you through seeing nature spirits in a new light that will never make you feel the same again about a tree, the fae, animals, nor our world.
