Supreme Threat:A Logan Alexander Thriller
T.L. Williams. First Coast, $9.77 trade paper (304p) ISBN 978-0-9884-4008-1
Williams’s solid fifth Logan Alexander thriller (after The Last Caliph) finds the CIA operations officer assigned to the Los Alamos National Laboratory as liaison between the lab and the CIA. Another new hire is Jason Lee, a Canadian physicist whose father, Roe Min-Woo, has defected to North Korea. Roe works for the North Korean intelligence service and expects Jason to pass along information about the lab. In Los Alamos, just as the head of security welcomes Logan, she gets a call that there’s a hostage situation underway. Fortunately, Logan is an expert hostage negotiator, so he jumps in, and after some gunplay, saves the day. Eventually, Logan realizes that Jason is involved with his father in spying at the lab. The action ramps up as Logan methodically tracks down all the spies and unearths various subterfuges. Williams packs the plot with plenty of intriguing background detail right up to the big reveal. Military action fans are in for a treat. (Self-published)
