My book is entitled, "Joy: The story of a dolphin trainer, filmmaker, and cancer survivor." It is about my story of being hit with cancer at 25 years of age. I had been a dolphin trainer and was treated at a Children's Hospital in Los Angeles as an adult. That is where I met kids who were going through cancer. I would tell my roommates about working with the dolphins and their eyes would light up. Then I met Bailey. She was my five-year-old roommate and she stole my heart the moment I met her. That is when I started to dream of introducing her to a dolphin when we were both healthy and on the other side of cancer (and we would both have lots of hair). That dream inspired me to start an annual program at SeaWorld San Diego that brings kids with cancer from Rady Children's Hospital and Children's Hospital Los Angeles to the park where they could get in the water to meet a dolphin. It's a story of love, loss, overcoming obstacles, and the people you meet along the way.
