This month, Michelle Argyle at Melissa Williams Design reimagines the cover of My Dearest Bea by indie author Peyton H. Roberts. To submit a book for a free cover redesign, email us at booklifeeditor@booklife.com.

Design Note #1: I loved the idea of using real-life photos of the letters provided by the editor. Adding a personal touch can make a cover more interesting.

Design Note #2: Adding a photograph of a trumpet mixed with musical note illustrations creates a playful vibe and says a lot about the author of the love letters.

Design Note #3: The original cover was dark and hard to read. I kept the background light and used red to really brighten it up.

Design Note #4: Subtle details can be fun to try. I added a faded image of Bea’s face onto the background since the letters are all addressed to her.
