Michelle Argyle at Melissa Williams Design reimagines the cover of Book of Days by Douglas Bullis. To submit a book for a free cover redesign, email us at booklifeeditor@booklife.com.

Design Note 1: I wanted to create a cleaner look to the fonts, as the current font feels a little less professional. Using a crisp, easy-to-read serif works well.

Design Note 2: I decided to go with a dark purple to complement everything else. Purple is often associated with wisdom, spirituality, and wealth. Reading through portions of the book, I felt this was an appropriate color.

Design Note 3: I love the brightness and immediate historical feel of the images on the original cover, so I wanted to keep those in the redesign. Rearranging them gave me space to rethink the placement and fonts.

Design Note 4: When I first saw the original cover, I struggled to figure out what the book was about. Including a secondary subtitle alleviates this issue.
