This month, Michelle Argyle Park of Melissa Williams Design reimagines the cover of How to Bury Your Dog by Eva Silverfine. Animals are a great way to sell a book to an intended audience, so I decided to make the dog much larger on the cover. To submit a book for a free cover redesign, email us at booklifeeditor@booklife.com.

Design Note #1: Animals are a great way to sell a book to an intended audience, so I decided to make the dog much larger on the cover.

Design Note #2: Using warmer colors helps draw in readers.

Design Note #3: It is not clear that the book is a novel based on the title alone, so I added “a novel” below the title to avoid confusion.

Design Note #4: The woodsy scene and buildings in the background hint at the book’s theme of protecting nature from development.
