Book Cover Redesign: 'Vanished'
May 30, 2018
Michelle Argyle at Melissa Williams Design reimagines the cover of 'Vanished' by indie author N.V. Baker. This month, Michelle Argyle at Melissa Williams Design reimagines the cover of Vanished by N.V. Baker, who praised the new cover, calling it “captivating.”
Design Note #1: Many covers use both serif and sans serif fonts. I used only serif fonts to convey a sense of traditionalism for this suspenseful, literary thriller.
Design Note #2: Enlarging the author’s name helps push this cover into the thriller genre.
Design Note #3: Including the image of a Middle Eastern city is not only true to the story but also works to set the tone of the book for readers.
Design Note #4: The novel takes place over the course of many years, so I went with an aged look to convey the passage of time.
