Alan Greenwood was born in Kingston, Jamaica in the West Indies and raised in Brooklyn, New York. He attended New York Military Academy in Cornwall-on-Hudson, NY, and served in the United States Army's Signal Corps. Alan transitioned from the military to the private sector in Communications, working for the Phone Company for over twenty years through its numerous titles (New York Telephone Company, NYNEX, Bell Atlantic and finally Verizon). Alan retired, relocated to Florida, and began working as an Emergency Dispatcher.
Alan is an avid military and intelligence historian who loves to read fictional and non-fictional works in that field. A good day for Alan is spent wandering a massive bookstore, browsing the shelves for his favorite authors like John le Carré, Fredrick Forsythe, Robert Ludlum, or Tom Clancy.
Alan's first step into creative writing began with fan fiction in the Harry Potter realm as well as establishing backstories for online gaming characters he has played in his youth. His love of a character’s history is vital, and he would take his time to develop it, often going back many generations. A person’s past can often dictate their present course of action. Creating a strong foundation for character development is one of his passions.
Producing literary works is Alan’s way of sharing his imagination with others in the hope they enjoy themselves in the world he has created. Alan is a private man but loves to interact with interesting people who can help him develop his craft. The Ratline is Alan’s first literary work and is part of a six book arc spanning a decade of intrigue.
