Allison Sojka is an author, illustrator, and graphic designer. Picnic for Parrots is her debut as a children's book author. Her earlier title, No Worries Whale: a Book of Ocean Poems, written by Amanda Gehrke, with pictures and design by Allison, is a beautifully illustrated book of whimsical and educational children's poetry, praised for its incorporation into school libraries and elementary school curriculum, with classroom sets proving a valuable asset alongside traditional nonfiction textbooks.

Allison holds a degree in illustration, computer graphics, and graphic design, and is the recipient of an AIGA Award for Illustration. She has given many school author/illustrator presentations to students ranging from kindergarten through sixth grade, and was formerly invited to be the featured author and guest of honor at the Follett Connections Midwest.

Allison lives in Nebraska with her husband and children.
