Because of her family's experience, Amanda LaPera has been a vocal advocate for individuals and families affected by severe mental illness. She served on the Board of Directors for the National Alliance for Mental Illness, Orange County Affiliate (NAMI-OC) for ten years. In addition to reading and writing, she finds joy in music, art, and nature, which she learned from her dad.
