André Akinyele (1972-) was born as André Marcel Wilson to musician parents, grew up in the San Francisco bay area, and since January 2017, resides in Toronto, Ontario Canada. His first co-authored book, "Elliptical: The Music of Meshell Ndegeocello," received rave reviews across all major book media platforms. His latest book "So, What's the Big Deal About Scrum?: A Methodology Handbook for Developers" was released in 2019.
He is an author, entrepreneur, a filmmaker and videographer, graphic designer, musician, recording artist, game and web developer, and a software engineer. Akinyele is the owner of Bombay Recording Co., Pearl Jazz Recording, the Orange River enterprise, and the tech company Ajamu. He has recorded under the names Marcel (1998-2004), Ajamu Akinyele (2005-2006), as the bandleader and bassist of the jazz-funk band Gemini Soul (2005-2015), and André Akinyele (2010-Present). Also, he is the vocalist and keyboardist of the Canadian electronic/pop duo Lavender Lush and the vocalist, guitarist, and bassist for the funk/rock band Looking for Lester.
He holds a B.S. in Legal Studies and M.S. in Information Technology: Software Engineering from the University of Maryland University College (UMUC) and an A.A. in Music Technology from Foothill College.
