Axel Howerton is the author of the darkly funny detective novel Hot Sinatra, a finalist for the 2014 Arthur Ellis Award for Best First Novel. Axel is a former entertainment journalist/webnerd, a member of the Crime Writers of Canada and the Kintsugi Poets, host of the NoirBarYYC crime series and the annual Coffin Hop online horror event. His short fiction and poetry has appeared in such weird and wonderful places as Fires on the Plain, Big Pulp, Night Shade, Steampunk Originals, Dark Moon Digest, Last Writes and Dark Eclipse, as well as in the books Clones Fairies & Monsters in the Closet, A Career Guide to Your Job in Hell, and Lebowski 101. He is the editor behind the book Coffin Hop: Death By Drive-In and the upcoming anthologies Tall Tales of the Weird West and AB Negative. He spends most of his time roaming the untamed prairies of Alberta with his two brilliant young sons and a wife that is way out of his league.
