The author is a survivalist having served in the Canadian Army for a combined 13 years (Reserve and Active Duty). After leaving the service he went on to complete a BA at Trent University in Psychology/Sociology, his pilot license, and a diploma in Teaching Adults. It was learned while at university that he had a severe learning impediment in both reading and writing. To overcome this challenge in his life, he became an avid member of the local libraries as well as taking Creative Writing courses and submitting some of his short works to competitions to earn honorary mentions. This first novel of his is the culmination of those efforts.
