Berlando Drake grew up in Chicago, affectionately known as “The Windy City”. Her passion for entertaining led to a career in the arts, performing in musical theater productions, traveling the world performing live music as a singer, and she was in a Broadway musical. 

As a firefighter, Berlando has experience with giving talks to children and she now enjoys writing stories for kids.  She is a member of the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators (SCBWI).
