Bernard N. Lee, Jr. is the oldest son of a career veteran of the US Army. Together with his family, he traveled throughout the United States and Europe during his childhood. The places he traveled, the people he met, and the stories he remembers are shared in his memoir series, A Look Back in Time: Memoir of a Military Kid in the Fifties, Vol. I & II.
Bernie (as his friends call him) attended Cameron Junior College in Oklahoma and Howard University in Washington, D.C. While at Howard, Bernie joined the Army ROTC Program, obtained a private pilot’s license, earned a regular army commission, and later retired as a Captain from the Army Reserves. After graduating from Howard with a BSEE, Bernie joined AT&T, in New Jersey, where he worked until retirement in 2003.
Bernie is a Director of the “How Big Is Your Dream?! Foundation, and a teacher of “Chess for Advanced and Beginning Students.” Bernie developed, and taught, a Summer School Reading Curriculum (based upon his book series) for middle/ high school students at the Hill Academy in Conyers. Bernie has been a frequent guest speaker on the internationally syndicated Tribe Family Channel™.
Bernie is a member of the Atlanta Writers Club; Georgia Writers Association; Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators; African American Literature Book Club; the Military Writers Society of America; and the American Overseas Schools Historical Society.
Bernie resides in Conyers, GA, with his wife of forty-three years, Edwina.
