Chance Nix is a former Marine who did two tours of duty in Iraq. On his first, he found himself in the battle of Fallujah, moving down the streets and kicking in doors to engage the enemy. After helping in the Hurricane Katrina relief efforts, Chance once again returned to Iraq on a promise made to his best friend.
This time, Chance drove the scout one vehicle, locating IED's and ensuring a safe route for the convoy. On August 30th, 2006, while driving through the city of Fallujah, an IED exploded, injuring Chance and his scouts. Immediately following the IED, their vehicle was soon under attack by the enemy. The Marines returned fire and dispatched the enemy insurgents. Chance was later awarded the Purple Heart for wounds received.
After discharge from the Marines, he found hard times adjusting to civilian life until he met and married artist/illustrator Jennifer. Writing, drawing, and working together, they welcomed two sons into their world. After a life of chaotic war and struggle, Chance is able to smile, write, and enjoy life.
