Charles L. Ross was the art director of Architectural Digest from 1978 to 1985. In 1987 he was the founding art director of Veranda, which grew in status to compete with Architectural Digest. Besides designing the magazine, he also edited the text and had his own column until he retired in 2004. His writing has been published in GQ, Christopher Street and The Advocate, as well as a short story in a gay anthology. He is currently at work on a short story collection and a work of non-fiction.
