Colin was born on a Canadian Military Base in 1953, a prairie boy. At the ripe old age of 20 years, he began his career with the Edmonton Police Department. Quickly determining that for him, it was likely better to work with machines than people, he started his helicopter licence in 1978.
Joining the Royal Canadian Mounted Police as a helicopter pilot in 1981, he travelled into every province and flew a variety of aircraft throughout his 20-year career. He left the RCMP in 2001.
Along with three close partners, Colin then started an aircraft charter and management company in Calgary, Alberta. This was quite successful for a ten year period until the price of oil collapsed in 2016. Now retired, he is aimlessly wandering the world and continues to work on his travelogues and his writing.
His first book, "My Canadian Adventure" is told from a pilots point of view and chronicles tho
